The Community Center
The heart of the Village.
The Community Center is where training, assessments and consultations take place. Equally important, it is where resident veterans gather and bond as a brotherhood and a community. It has designated rooms and areas for each activity and service provided.
Gathering place
A spacious room with couches, tables, televisions and bookcases stocked with books and games — a social, comfortable space for training, exercise, movie nights, studying and group sessions. A planned soundproof operable wall will divide the room in half when more than one thing is happening at once.
Computer training room
Six computers, a scanner and a shredder, for training sessions, veteran-selected classes, individual tasks that need the internet, or simply browsing the web.
Case manager's office
The Case Manager works directly with each resident veteran to create a personalised case plan, set goals, and help the veteran accomplish them.
Kitchen
A large kitchen table, sinks, a refrigerator-freezer, a water and ice dispenser, a microwave, a toaster, counter space, cooking and eating utensils, dinnerware, and a fully stocked pantry of low-cost snacks and meals. Local organizations deliver meals regularly, and weekly group meals are held here.
Executive director's office
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall operation of the Village and is its face to the public, reporting directly to the President of the Board of Directors.
Coffee maker and water station
A coffee maker and filtered water dispenser sit in the hallway between the TV room and the kitchen. Most mornings you will find veterans, staff and community leaders there over a cup of coffee.
Help keep the lights on
The Community Center is where the work of getting a veteran back on their feet actually happens.
